Diplomatic and Development Economics Fast Stream 2027
Diplomatic and Development Economics Fast Streamers work at the intersection of economics, international relations, and global policy within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Economists are embedded in policymaking, diplomacy, partnerships, and aid strategy to generate innovative ideas and deliver robust policy advice to ministers. Day to day, you will analyse economic trends, design evidence-based solutions, and collaborate with government departments, international organisations, and academic institutions. The role provides valuable experience, training, and a springboard to overseas postings.
What they're looking for
- Resided in the UK for at least 5 of the previous 10 years
- Committed to international issues, development, and foreign policy
- Capable of delivering robust policy advice using data-driven insights
Qualifications
- 2:1 degree, degree apprenticeship or higher or postgraduate degree in an economic subject
- For mixed degrees, at least 50% should be in economics
Nationality requirements
You must be a British citizen and those with dual nationality may apply. Open to UK nationals only.
Selection process
The Final Selection Board will be conducted in person in London during February and March 2027.
