Civil Jobs is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by HM Government or Civil Service Jobs. We are an independent search index and never process job applications.
2. What We Collect & Lawful Basis
You can browse the entire site anonymously without creating an account.
- Account Data (Optional Google Sign-In): Email address, display name, and unique user ID. Used solely to authenticate your account and persist saved job searches. Lawful Basis: Performance of a Contract (UK GDPR Art 6(1)(b)).
- Saved Searches & Preferences: Filter criteria stored to deliver user-requested features. Lawful Basis: Performance of a Contract (Art 6(1)(b)).
- Technical Logs & Diagnostics: IP addresses, error monitoring, and system logs processed temporarily to secure the platform and fix faults. Lawful Basis: legitimate interests (Art 6(1)(f)).
3. Data Sourcing & Redaction (UK GDPR Article 14)
Job listings are gathered from public sources under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Adverts may contain contact details of recruitment personnel. We scrub email addresses, telephone numbers, and contact names prior to database storage or processing under Article 14.
Named in a listing? Email [email protected] with the listing details to request immediate removal under UK GDPR Art 21(1).
4. Data Sharing, Storage & Infrastructure
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Data is processed securely using industry-standard cloud infrastructure providers bound by UK GDPR data processing agreements. Authentication data is processed via Google OAuth.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
Account data and saved searches are retained until you request deletion or after 24 months of account inactivity. System logs are deleted within 90 days. Raw job vacancy HTML is purged 60 days post-closing.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, port, or erase your data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
