Probation service officers help protect the public and support people on probation before and after sentence. Day-to-day work involves managing a caseload, assessing and managing risks, producing accurate reports, and working closely with courts and other justice agencies. Officers also provide practical advice and support to help individuals turn their lives around. The role is based in the Probation Service and involves working across various settings such as offices, courts, and prisons.
