Science Strategy and Professions Officer
This role sits within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' Central Science Division, working on the priorities of the Chief Scientific Adviser. The postholder leads on self-contained project work, updates specific guidance and policies, and supports broader engagement with the science profession across the department. Working in a small, dynamic team, the individual helps translate research into evidence for policy and champions science and scientists. They collaborate closely with policy areas, external partners, and senior leaders to ensure science effectively underpins departmental work.

- Understanding of how evidence and R&D support policy delivery
- Experience briefing senior leaders and influencing stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills for delivering multiple projects
- Ability to build productive relationships across organisations
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in science or engineering or equivalent
Nationality requirements
This job is broadly open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland nationals, Commonwealth citizens with right to work, EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with EUSS status, and Turkish nationals.
Selection process
We expect to interview from the week commencing the 2nd November. Interviews will be conducted face to face or by video.
