Senior Technical Architect (up to £83,918)
The Senior Technical Architect defines, maintains, and champions the technical strategy for digital services in the Department for Education schools portfolio. They lead technical specialists across multiple projects, building user-centred, open-source web systems using agile methods and cloud-first architectures. Working in multi-disciplinary teams, they collaborate with developers, policy makers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable software and drive digital transformation. They also play an active role in the DfE architecture community by sharing knowledge and establishing best practices.
What they're looking for
- Experience working and coaching in technical teams using agile
- Experience with cloud-first architectures and web systems
- Software development experience in C# .Net or similar
- Ability to work with stakeholders to agree on technical plans
- Practical knowledge across the web stack from front-end to infrastructure
Nationality requirements
Open to UK, Irish, Commonwealth, EU/EEA/Swiss, and Turkish nationals with relevant work rights or EUSS status.
Selection process
Sift expected week commencing 5 October 2026, with first stage interviews likely in week commencing 19 October 2026. Interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams.
