Assistant Economist
The Assistant Economist supports the economics team by conducting literature reviews, gathering data, and performing econometric analysis on climate change adaptation and mitigation projects. Working closely with senior economists, the post holder helps develop forest sector models, timber evidence bases, and cost-benefit analyses to inform government policy and sustainable forest management. They also engage with external stakeholders and contribute to research report writing and funding bids.

- Economics degree or joint degree with majority economics credits
- Experience in environmental or ecological economics
- Strong data analysis skills for validation and statistics
- Ability to apply microeconomic theory
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Economics degree (or joint degree with over 50% economics credits)
Nationality requirements
Open to UK, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth, EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with settled/pre-settled status, and Turkish nationals with rights to work.
Selection process
Sift will take place on 21st and 22nd of October 2026. In-person interviews are planned between 4th and 12th of November 2026.
