Deputy Director - Health Equity and Community Protection.
This role provides strategic leadership for UKHSA's work on health equity, community protection, and national public health guidance. The postholder will lead efforts to reduce avoidable disparities in exposure and outcomes from infectious diseases and health hazards. Working across government, the NHS, academia, and local government, they will embed health equity and drive action to improve population resilience. They will also manage a division and participate in senior on-call arrangements during emergencies.

- Experience of managing significant budgets and resources
- Commitment to work within a political system
Qualifications
- GMC Full and Specialist Register with licence to practice or GDC Specialist List
- UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) if UK trained in Public Health
- MFPH by examination, exemption or assessment
Nationality requirements
This job is broadly open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland nationals, Commonwealth citizens with work rights, EU/EEA/Swiss/Turkish nationals with relevant status.
Selection process
Interviews will be held week commencing 16th November 2026 and will include a 10-minute presentation.
