Higher Data Scientist - Drone Pilot & Earth Observation Analyst Status: Vacancy Live
This role involves leading and supporting Earth Observation projects, dividing time equally between piloting drones and analysing environmental data. The post holder plans and executes drone surveys using various sensors for habitat mapping and coastal monitoring, and processes data using geographic information system tools. Working within the Earth Observation Service team, the candidate collaborates with partners and helps build technical skills across the organisation. Substantial travel across England, including overnight stays, is a regular requirement of the position.
What they're looking for
- Experience as a drone pilot with GVC for fixed wing or multi rotor
- Experience processing drone data and using various drone sensors
- Proficiency in GIS or Earth Observation analysis tools like ArcGIS or R
- Experience applying Earth Observation techniques in natural environments
Qualifications
- Earth observation or Remote Sensing qualification at Masters level
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to swim
