Java Software Engineer
You will work as a Java Software Engineer within the Department for Work and Pensions to build and maintain modern, cloud-first digital services. You will collaborate with multi-functional agile delivery teams, architects, and engineers to develop user-facing applications, Application Programming Interfaces, and event-driven systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing software, ensuring operational stability, writing automated tests, and helping guide teams on best engineering practices. You will play a key role in delivering high-value digital products that support critical public services.
What they're looking for
- Experience developing in cloud-based environments using Java 21 or above
- Knowledge of APIs, RESTful services, or asynchronous microservices
- Understanding of Test Driven Development and Behaviour Driven Development
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases like Postgres and MongoDB
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in agile, multi-disciplinary teams
