Principal Specialist - Innovation Autonomy
The Principal Specialist in Innovation Autonomy leads the assessment and integration of emerging maritime technologies, focusing on autonomous and remotely operated vessels. You will work closely with industry partners, government colleagues, and internal stakeholders to shape safe regulatory frameworks, manage safety cases, and support commercial vessel certification. The role operates within the Technical Maritime Services Directorate to drive future-focused operations and sustainable maritime innovation. You will provide expert technical assurance and guidance to surveyors and marine offices while contributing to international and national regulatory developments.

- Engineering degree to Masters level or equivalent technical experience
- Experience in risk-based assessment or safety case processes
- Conducting detailed engineering analysis, modelling, or research
- Communicating complex technical content to senior stakeholders
- Working effectively with ambiguity and strategic goals
Qualifications
- Engineering degree to Masters level (Meng, MSc) or equivalent
