Prison Officer Returners Scheme
This role is for former prison officers or youth justice workers returning to HM Prison & Probation Service to support colleagues in keeping prisons and the public safe. You will work on a 24/7 shift pattern covering evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays to maintain safety, security, and decency in custody. Returning staff benefit from a simplified application process that bypasses initial online testing and foundation training.
What they're looking for
- Left HMPPS within the last 5 years at band 3 or higher
- Completed foundation training and probation before leaving
- Pass a medical, fitness assessment, and eyesight standard
- Fulfill spoken aspects of English or Welsh with confidence
Nationality requirements
This job is broadly open to UK, Ireland, Commonwealth, EU and Turkish nationals with the appropriate right to work.
