Range Safety Officer
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory is seeking a Range Safety Officer to act as the lead subject matter expert for range safety and independent oversight. The successful candidate will provide expert safety leadership and advice to senior leaders, Duty Holders, and project teams across complex test, trial, and evaluation activities. Responsibilities include overseeing the Range Safety Management System, reviewing safety cases, leading incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with Defence regulations. Working alongside technical specialists and regulatory bodies, the role helps protect people, assets, and the environment while shaping future range capabilities.
What they're looking for
- Experience in range safety, safety assurance or regulatory compliance
- Understanding of Defence Ordnance, Munitions and OME regulations
- Experience developing and assuring safety cases and risk assessments
- Expertise in trials, test, evaluation, ballistics or technical discipline
Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent

Selection process
Sifting will take place week commencing 12th October. Interviews will be arranged from 9th November 2026.
