Security Officer
Security Officers act as the first point of contact for visitors and staff entering GCHQ buildings, anticipating and reducing security risks to keep everyone safe. Day-to-day duties include monitoring CCTV in the control room, overseeing building access, carrying out physical searches, patrolling grounds, and responding to alarms or giving first aid. Officers greet people from all backgrounds, including government officials and partner agencies, guiding them through security procedures with a calm, friendly presence. The role involves working closely with teams across GCHQ as well as MI5 and MI6 in a supportive, collaborative environment.

- Security or customer service experience
- English Language GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent
- Basic IT and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to reliably commute for shift times

Nationality requirements
To work at GCHQ, you need to be a British citizen or hold dual British nationality.
