Senior Developer
As a Senior Developer within the Government Digital Service, you will play a key role in building and improving the performance of the National Data Library platform. You will work within a multi-disciplinary product team to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable open data services and application programming interfaces. Day to day, you will collaborate with colleagues to select technologies, shape technical roadmaps, and ensure delivery aligns with government standards and cross-government platforms. You will also represent the department at technical forums, open-source communities, and government working groups to solve high-priority digital challenges.
What they're looking for
- Experience developing containerised cloud applications with Python, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and GitHub for version control
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
- Experience designing systems of moderate risk and complexity while ensuring integration

Selection process
Sift completion by Monday 19th October 2026. Interviews start from Wednesday 4th October 2026 via video conferencing, including a 60-minute technical exercise and a 30-minute assessment.
