Senior Health and Safety Practitioner - Census 2031
You will lead and coordinate health and safety provision for the Census 2031 programme, focusing on field data collection operations and public-facing events across England and Wales. Working within the Census Field Services group, you will develop and embed risk assessments, safe systems of work, and compliance processes while collaborating with corporate health and safety teams and external stakeholders. Your day-to-day work involves providing expert advice to senior leaders, managing operational and wellbeing risks, and overseeing incident management for field officers. This role ensures all field operations meet statutory health and safety standards while supporting large-scale data collection.

- Proven experience leading health and safety initiatives in large-scale operations
- Ability to build relationships and ensure working practices are safe and compliant
- Experience developing risk assessments and managing near-miss and incident reporting
- Experience auditing statutory compliance and producing management reports
- Experience working with trade unions and staff bodies on complex operational issues
Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- TechIOSH
