Driving Examiner
Driving examiners conduct driving tests at test centres to help keep Britain's roads safe and connect communities. Each day involves carrying out around seven tests, observing and recording candidate performance on a digital tablet, and delivering clear, sensitive feedback. Examiners also work with colleagues to plan routes, manage schedules, and handle customer queries. This is a vital public-facing role requiring strong observation, calm communication, and absolute impartiality.
What they're looking for
- Aged 23 or over
- Resilient and calm in stressful situations
- Strong observation, recall and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fair, impartial and evidence-based decision maker
Qualifications
- Full manual UK or EU driving licence held continuously for the last 3 years
- No more than 3 penalty points on driving licence
Nationality requirements
This job is broadly open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland nationals, Commonwealth citizens with right to work, EUSS status holders, and Turkish Ankara Agreement workers.
Selection process
Sift results are anticipated by 19 November 2026. Interviews will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams starting from 30 November to 22 December 2026.
