Head of Data Capabilities
This senior role leads the development of the National Situation Centre's data science and geospatial data science capabilities within the Cabinet Office. You will provide functional and professional leadership to data scientists, oversee analytical coding standards, and build and maintain data pipelines using Python and AWS tooling. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will manage geospatial reporting and serve on a crisis response rota to deliver analytical briefing products into emergency management structures. The work focuses on complex policy and delivery to protect the UK from crises and make the nation more resilient.
What they're looking for
- Expertise in Python and libraries like Pandas and Geopandas
- Experience with geospatial tooling including ArcGIS and spatial datasets
- Experience with unit testing such as Pytest
- Understanding of AWS serverless tooling and ETL pipeline development
- Understanding of data management, governance and modern data architectures
