Government Economic Service Summer Placement Scheme 2027
You will work as an economics undergraduate on a paid summer placement across various government departments. Your day-to-day work involves analyzing data, comparing policy trade-offs, and briefing decision-makers on important issues. You will collaborate with supportive teams to gain practical, real-world economics experience while balancing your ongoing university studies. The scheme lasts between 6 and 12 weeks over the summer period.

- On course for a 2:1 or 1st class degree outcome
- Studied macroeconomics and microeconomics
- Right to live and work in the UK

Nationality requirements
Must meet Civil Service Nationality Rules and have the right to live and work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
Selection process
Interviews are held virtually between 30 November and 16 December 2026, following application closure on 16 October 2026.
