Senior Healthcare Laboratory Scientist
This role provides technical expertise and support to strengthen laboratory capability across the UK Overseas Territories Health Security Programme. The post holder works closely with the Consultant Microbiologist and other specialists to improve laboratory services, quality systems, workforce development, and emergency preparedness. Responsibilities include advising on diagnostic techniques, supporting quality management systems, designing training programmes, and building partnerships with international stakeholders. Based in the UK, the position involves regular international travel several times a year to support partner laboratories.
What they're looking for
- Postgraduate degree or equivalent in Microbiology, Virology, or Molecular Biology
- Experience in clinical diagnostic microbiology or support/development laboratories
- Competency in molecular diagnostics, bacteriology, serology, and laboratory safety
- Experience in laboratory quality management, assurance procedures, and training
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (Microbiology / Virology / Molecular Biology)
Nationality requirements
Open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth citizens with work rights, EUSS status holders, and Turkish Ankara Agreement workers.
Selection process
