Senior Biomedical Scientist - Application Specialist
You will lead the evaluation, validation, and implementation of diagnostic assays and high-throughput testing workflows at a new testing facility. Your day will involve providing senior technical expertise, troubleshooting platform and assay performance, and supervising staff. You will work closely with the Facility Manager and colleagues across scientific teams to maintain high-quality standards and support pandemic preparedness. The role requires participating in an out-of-hours testing rota when required.
What they're looking for
- BSc Degree in an appropriate medical or biological science discipline
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist
- Extensive experience in molecular laboratory techniques including RT-PCR
- Proven experience working in a diagnostic or reference virology laboratory
- Experience in leading and managing teams or projects to tight deadlines
Qualifications
- BSc Degree in an appropriate medical/microbiology/biological science discipline
- MSc or higher qualification in an appropriate medical or biological science
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist
Nationality requirements
Open to UK, Irish, Commonwealth, EU, EEA, Swiss and Turkish nationals with relevant status or right to work in the UK.
Selection process
Interviews are planned for w/c 12th and 19th October in a face-to-face format.
