Senior Biomedical Scientist - Quality Lead
This role involves leading the delivery of a quality management system at a new high-throughput PCR testing facility at the Porton Down scientific campus. The post holder oversees quality improvements, manages risk registers, supports staff training, and participates in testing rotas including out-of-hours shifts during incident responses. You will work within a new team called Amplify alongside colleagues in the Rare and Imported Pathogen Laboratory and report directly to the facility manager. The position ensures the service remains ready to respond to emerging threats with epidemic or pandemic potential.
What they're looking for
- BSc Hons in a biological science
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist
- Experience implementing Quality Management Systems in an ISO 15189 laboratory
- Substantive experience in a diagnostic or reference virology laboratory
Qualifications
- BSc Hons in a biological science
- MSc or higher qualification in an appropriate science
- Health and Care Professions Council registration as a Biomedical Scientist

Open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth citizens with work rights, EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with EUSS status, and Turkish nationals under the Ankara Agreement.
