Senior Healthcare / Biomedical Scientist
This role provides senior scientific leadership and day-to-day supervision for next-generation sequencing services within a busy NHS collaboration laboratory. You will perform manual and automated laboratory techniques, write and review standard operating procedures, and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and training are maintained. Working alongside multidisciplinary healthcare and scientific teams, you will support technical development, workflow optimization, and staff management. The position plays a key part in delivering accurate diagnostic and public health activities while fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.

- Post-graduate degree in a relevant medical, microbiology, or biological science discipline
- Extensive knowledge and experience in a specialist laboratory area
- Proven record of supporting next generation sequencing and automation services
- Experience of managing, motivating a team, and directing activities
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden demands
Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree in an appropriate medical / microbiology / biological science

Selection process
Interviews are planned for weeks commencing 12th and/or 19th October 2026, taking place face-to-face in Bristol.
