Traffic Examiner
Traffic Examiners work outdoors and on-site at locations like motorway service areas and check-sites to inspect commercial vehicles and HGVs for road safety and compliance. They examine vehicle weights, licenses, and tachograph records, and prepare case reports for prosecution or the Traffic Commissioner while advising drivers and public stakeholders. The role involves working independently or as part of an enforcement team to uphold transport regulations across the road network.

Open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth, EU and Turkish nationals with relevant work rights.
Selection process
Sift takes place on 20 October 2026. Interviews and written exercises are held in person between 4 and 20 November 2026 at a DVSA office.
