Veterinary Lead Scotland
The Veterinary Lead Scotland provides senior strategic veterinary leadership within the Animal and Plant Health Agency, directing multidisciplinary teams during animal disease outbreaks and normal operations. The postholder influences animal health and welfare policies, oversees clinical governance, and builds strong partnerships across government and industry. Responsibilities include driving organisational change, managing resources, making high-impact decisions under uncertainty, and undertaking line management. The role works closely with Scottish Government policy makers, field delivery teams, external stakeholders, and agency colleagues.
